The customer is an international technology group specializing in end-to-end logistics technologies. Its portfolio includes automation solutions, voice, robotics and transport systems.
During its rollout of SAP S/4HANA in around ten national companies in Asia, the United States and Europe through 2024, the supply chain technology experts faced the challenge of providing data from the SAP environment on the existing SQL database infrastructure for the creation of reports and for self-service BI with Microsoft Power BI.

Solution with Xtract Universal
With two SAP interfaces to choose from, the international technology group decided on Xtract Universal, convinced by its high maturity level and flexibility of application. Various, integrated connector elements enable all data flows and extractions to be modeled efficiently. In addition, the group already had favorable experience with Theobald Software’s products.
The installation went smoothly and quickly. “I was surprised at how easy it was,” said the project manager from the group’s controlling department. “I downloaded the free test version, made a few settings in SAP, and within five hours I was ready for the first data transfer from SAP S/4HANA to Microsoft SQL Server.”
The project manager reported needing support from Theobald Software only once: “I had to call them to get a new patch. Other than that, we were always able to take care of everything ourselves. The online help available on the Theobald Software website is very detailed and easy to understand. Anybody with a little technical knowledge can work really well with that.”

The technology group began its operational use of Xtract Universal with the transfer of relevant data for project reporting. Planning is now in progress for the further development of standard reporting for controlling organizations such as sales and capacity management. In the future, as part of the company’s business intelligence plan, employees from the various departments will not only be able to use standard reports but also to create self-service reports in Power BI. Here too, Xtract Universal ensures the reliable transfer of the required data from the SAP world to the Microsoft world.
