The specialty chemicals group LANXESS bases its digitization strategy around a cloud environment deployed in Microsoft Azure. As a result, it needs to transfer data from the SAP ERP and BW systems to the Azure storage platform so that it is available for further processing in Azure cloud services.

Solutions from three different providers were evaluated. LANXESS decided in favor of Xtract Universal. The secure and easy technical setup as well as the multitude of extraction possibilities and options are features that weigh heavily in favor of the solution. After extensive test runs in the sandbox, development and quality assurance systems, LANXESS put the interface into productive operation.

Thanks to Xtract Universal, LANXESS can benefit from the automation of extraction processes. “Once we have built an extraction process, we can set it to run automatically as often as we like. Since many of our projects require using SAP data several times a day, this gives us an enormous time advantage, compared to manual loading and processing. In addition, it is easy to extract mass data extremely quickly and incrementally with Xtract Universal. This is crucial, for example, for retrieving the BSEG SAP table (for accounting documents) to provide the consuming applications with up-to-date data.”
A big advantage for Dr.-Ing. Christian Koch is also the ability to pass parameters when calling an extraction from Xtract Universal: Similar BW queries are used in various LANXESS business units. With Xtract Universal, a query extraction including parameters can be defined, and relevant parameters can be dynamically transferred during the extraction process so that individualized datasets are available for different business units and the current time period.
