Various measures for process optimization through digitization are on the digital agenda of the insurance group INTER Versicherungsgruppe. The company has therefore decided to introduce an employee self-service portal (ESS) that staff can use to access HR management-related information and perform certain transactions using any end device. Since sensitive employee-related information from SAP R3 also needed to be made available via the web-based tool, it was necessary to ensure that data could be transferred efficiently and securely from SAP to a secure Microsoft SQL server, which acts as a central database and can provide access to the ESS and other systems.

Employees can independently use the ESS to apply for vacation, enter their working hours, and manage their address data. The data exported using Xtract IS Ultimate will also be used for other processes in the future, such as financial monitoring with Power BI. Tobias Schulz summed it up, “Instead of having to deal with umpteen different interfaces that different people have to maintain, we now have a powerful overall solution that we can use to transfer all SAP data.” During the next step, another interface from Theobald Service will be implemented with ERPConnect, which will make it possible to write back data changes made in the ESS to SAP.
