In October 2025, our dual student Theresa completed a four-week internship at Würth Industrie Service GmbH & Co. KG. The internship took place as part of an exchange program specially created by Theobald Software and Würth Industrie Service for dual students. In this article, you’ll learn how this program came to life and what opportunities it offers for dual students at Theobald Software.

Hardly back from my stay abroad at our Seattle office, my next exciting practical assignment was already waiting: a four-week introductory internship at Würth Industrie Service GmbH & Co. KG in Bad Mergentheim. In this post, I’d like to share my experiences and show the added value this internship offers within the dual study program.
How did the exchange program between Theobald Software and Würth Industrie Service come to life?
The cooperation traces back to the founding story of Theobald Software. During his time at Würth Industrie Service, Patrick Theobald developed the core idea for a piece of software that would later lead to the founding of Theobald Software. From this close connection, a unique exchange program was created - giving dual students from both companies the opportunity to gain insights into the partner company and discover new perspectives.
Würth Industrie Service GmbH & Co. KG is a subsidiary of the Würth Group, employing over 1,800 people at its headquarters on Drillberg in Bad Mergentheim. The company specializes in logistics and trade services for industrial customers, particularly in the field of C-parts management.
Why an internship at Würth Industrie Service during the dual study program?
With its Digital Business Development and Innovations department, Würth Industrie Service provides an ideal complement to the Digital Business Management dual study program at Theobald Software. The department focuses on areas of digital transformation, which are also central topics in the lectures at the Cooperative State University (DHBW).
This allows dual students from Theobald Software to link theoretical knowledge with practical project work and gain insights into the processes of a large-scale enterprise. Additionally, Würth Industrie Service’s logistics center offers valuable insights into operational and economic contexts - making business management concepts more tangible and applicable in practice.
What did I take away from the internship?
During my internship, I supported the team in projects related to innovation and idea management, as well as in the Microsoft 365 environment. My time at Würth Industrie Service taught me how valuable it is to embrace new and unfamiliar situations. The different work environment and new topics strengthened my ability to adapt flexibly to tasks and quickly grasp complex issues. What I found particularly fascinating was experiencing the topics from my digital transformation lectures in practice - and being able to actively contribute to them.
Conclusion: Looking beyond your own horizon pays off
The exchange program between Theobald Software and Würth Industrie Service GmbH & Co. KG demonstrates how valuable company collaborations can be - especially for dual students. Gaining new perspectives, learning about different organizational structures and work methods, and engaging with new teams have broadened my understanding of business processes and further deepened my enthusiasm for digital topics.
A big thank you to the Digital Business Development and Innovations team at Würth Industrie Service for the collaboration!
