SAPinsider 2024 Recap
Last month, Theobald Software’s American division attended SAPinsider 2024 in Las Vegas, Nevada. This opportunity allowed us to meet up with customers in-person, give demos, and help solve customers‘ problems. In addition to working with our customers, we also spent time bonding with fully-remote workers and introducing our newest employee – Summer Nanpooya – to the world of SAP conferencing.
SAPinsider 2024
SAPinsider is the largest and fastest-growing SAP community in the world. As of 2024, they are made up of over 750,000 members across the globe. SAPinsider Vegas is their annual networking event, sporting an average of 2,000 to 3,000 attendees per year.
2024 was our third year of sponsoring the event. Our involvement signaled a commitment to staying connected to the global SAP community. It also included a special page on the SAPinsider website, which you can view here.
Connecting with the Community
In order to best address our customers‘ needs, we held two presentations at this year’s SAPinsider conference:
- 1 Product Demo with a Guest from Amazon Web Services (AWS), and
- 1 Speaking Session on CDC Options.
Through these in-person events, we hoped to vanquish specific concerns we have heard from our customers.
Session 1: Turn SAP Data into Actionable Insights with Theobald Software and Amazon Web Services (AWS)
Our first talk focused on showcasing how our tools can transfer SAP data to various platforms with the help of our Amazon AWS SAP integration. Occurring on March 20th 2024 at 2:50pm – the second full day of the conference – Director of Sales Tyler Reynolds and Technical Account Manager Brian Smoot II paired up with AWS’s Suresh Pulivarhi to help answer customers‘ burning questions about SAP data integration.
Some highlights from this session included:
- Explaining our SAP Certification in Third Party Integration
- Walking users through Xtract Universal’s data extraction process
- Deep-diving into The Data Silo Dilemma, and more.
This was our first partnership with AWS, and it won’t be our last: We plan to reconnect with them again soon!
Session 2: Real-Time Data Replication & Change Capture – You Have Options
On the final day of the conference, Tyler Reynolds gave a second presentation: This one on how customers can leverage SAP Operational Data Provisioning (ODP) and “Table CDC” for any SAP ERP system in order to copy data into a cloud-based environment.
In this presentation, we explained how utilizing ODP is especially important for S/4HANA systems, though it can also be used with:
- DataSources/BW Extractors
- ABAP CDS Views
- HANA Views, and
- BW Objects
We also introduced Table CDC: A new, no-code feature that allows for trigger-based table replication across digital environments. This ability allows users to install function modules without the need for any SLT servers.
Key Takeaways
Through our time at SAPinsider, we learned a number of things about the state of SAP in 2024. Some valuable insights include:
- Common Themes: We heard many people discuss SAP Migration and SAP Security.
- This was great news for our sister company and conference neighbors, Security Bridge!
- Reduced Interest: There was less discussion around RISE and Datasphere in comparison to last year.
We also found ourselves catching up with folks we have worked with in the past, including (but not limited to) Morton Salt. You can read more about our relationship with Morton Salt in our case study here.
As a company that builds tools to help SAP users integrate their data to better suit their lives, it is important for us to stay in-the-know on all things SAP. This is why we prioritize attending events like SAPinsider every year: So we can continue learning, growing, and supporting our customers!
