INEOS Oil & Gas wanted to optimize their existing reporting system. “The reports that were available in SAP were no longer sufficient for our needs,” explains Robert Schwering, ERP Manager, INEOS Oil & Gas. “Furthermore, we spent too much time manually extracting data from multiple SAP transaction codes in order to compile them into a report.” INEOS wanted to start using Power BI from Microsoft as their new business intelligence tool. To transfer data from SAP ERP ECC 6.0 to the BI solution, the chemical company was looking for software that reliably connects SAP with Power BI.

It took just a few minutes to install the free trial version of the software. “Within the first hour of testing, it was clear that Xtract Universal is the ideal solution for INEOS Oil & Gas,” remembers Robert Schwering. “Very little training was required – after just 30 minutes we understood how to use Xtract Universal.” The company now uses this interface on an almost daily basis. A key function is importing SAP data into Power BI at the end of the month, when various reports must be generated on a regular basis.
INEOS O&G UK benefits in particular from the use of Xtract Universal thanks to the direct connection of Power BI and SAP. “The software is very easy to use. We don’t need to worry about NetWeaver or any other customer-specific logic connections. Xtract Universal allows for plug-and-play data transfer,” says Robert Schwering.
Theobald Software impressed the client not only in terms of technology, but also with its service and support. Robert Schwering confirms: “The Help Desk offered really excellent support. Furthermore, the Online Help section on Theobald Software’s website covers everything you need to know about Xtract Universal.”
In the future, the company will be using Xtract Universal to securely transfer SAP data to third-party systems in other areas as well. They are also considering the Theobald product ECS Core, an SAP interface for process integration in cloud environments.
